If your mixed metaphors don't make your high school English teacher want to wade fully clothed into the sea, hyphenating "fully clothed" as though it's a compound adjective rather than an adverb (fully) modifying an adjective (clothed) might do the trick. Great piece, though. Also, in my corner of Pennsylvania (Delaware County), the Democrats kept the Republicans off the county council, which was controlled by Republicans from the Civil War until 2019.

I woke up happy for the first time in years. I literally tear up when talking about the spark of hope in my heart- crying now! Lol

Definitely glad to have a good feeling on an election day for a change. My joy centered on my home state sending Mikie Sherrill to Trenton & whatshisface to the "100% maga" pile. As for the city I'm in the other 12 hrs of the day, I do have some of those reservations you mentioned. Not for reasons brought up, but watching people who co-signed "Joy is not a strategy" when it came to another campaign, embrace it as "new" when the stakes were much lower and encased in a blue city bubble, left me a little cold. Whether he's a typical NYC mayor(mostly irrelevant) or Deblasio 2.0(irrelevant and hated) we'll see. But I'm happy for the happiness and the mini blue wave .
